Bahkan saat ia diajak pindah ke sebuah rumah kuno oleh Alex (Guy Pearce), ayahnya, pun Sally tak segera mencari teman di tempat baru ini. Saat menjelajahi rumah kuno yang kabarnya dibangun abad ke-19 ini Sally bertemu makhluk lain yang sangat bersahabat. Segera saja Sally dan penghuni dunia lain ini menjalin persahabatan.

Tanpa disadari, Sally sebenarnya telah membuka gerbang ke dunia lain dan kini para penghuninya siap untuk merebut Sally dari Alex. Five years later, Victoria and Lilly are both found living in a derelict cabin deep in the woods. Without hesitation, Lucas and Annabel welcome the two frightened girls into their home, and work hard to make them feel comfortable.

But when a series of ominous events lead Lucas and Annabel to suspect that Victoria and Lilly share ties to an evil beyond human comprehension, the couple must discern whether the two young girls are merely dealing with the emotional aftershocks of a life-altering tragedy, or have attracted a force that could destroy their family all over again.

With only one week to get home, convince Jane that his love is true, and return to the front lines, Dalton and Mickey make their way to the University of Michigan, where they find that Jane (Aimee Teegarden) has changed her name to Juniper, and fallen headlong into the thriving counterculture movement that wants American troops out of Vietnam.

Just when the two soldiers think they’ve got it all figured out, however, Mickey falls hard for Juniper’s gorgeous new friend Candace (Teresa Palmer), and starts to see the conflict from a whole new perspective. Later, when the week is up, Dalton and Mickey find themselves struggling to reconcile their growing inner conflict against their commitment to God and country.
